Overview and E-Archive Link

Audio Introduction to E-Archive Final Project

Angela did the one page summary, Nichole created the E-archive, Andrea did research for contributions to the E-archive. The entire group made some contribution to the E-archive and the entire group reviewed the summary and E-archive.
Angela commented on group 2 and 4.
Nichole commented on groups 3 and 4.
Andrea commented on group 2 and 5.

Our group has really grown over the course of this semester. We have found out what our strengths are and also our weakness. Over this semester we have learned about: various important eras in education, influential educators who have made a difference in adult education, and significant educational programs. The projects that were presented to our group this semester has allowed our group to grow as adult educators and value adult education.

The eras in Adult Education our group studied:
* Education in the 1940’s was a real growth in adult education as a field was primed to begin.
* Education in the 1960’s was a trend that was beginning to happen in the rural communities.
* Education in the 1980’s the federal government’s role in adult education was the establishment and amendments of Adult Education Act.

Significant Contributors in Adult Education:
* Booker T. Washington (April 5, 1856 – November 14, 1915) was one of many African Americans who contributed to adult education through the development of vocational education.
* Dr. Charles A. Prosser had a huge influence on the vocational education movement, in particular he was the architect of the 1917 Smith-Hughes Act.

Significant Programs that contribute to Adult Education:
* Indianapolis Urban League: This organization has worked tirelessly to provide education, workforce development, and equal opportunities, as well as to build relationships between racial groups in Indianapolis, IN.
* Goodwill Industries: Goodwill offers so many services to the community, such as a provider of employment, training and rehabilitation for people of limited employability, and a source of temporary assistance for individuals whose resources were depleted.

The different eras and the influential contributors, and also the programs are main aspects that contribute to adult education and adult learning. With this combination, the field of adult education is built. Because adult education has grown over the years, the above qualities are all significant in the growing process of adult education. Adult education is life-long learning experience. Without the different eras, contributors and programs, adult education it would not be where it is today. Adult education is a growing experience where everyone can participate

Your e-archive is very professional-looking and gives a good overview of what we did this semester. Your resource page has good reference information. It might have made your e-Archive stronger to focus more information about what adult education is rather than on the coursework. Overall very nice job!

  2. What I really enjoyed about your website was the topics page. I think that using the topics for our discussions might really catch someone's eye who was looking for more information about adult ed. I especially like that you included the "future of adult education" because some people don't even realize there is much of a "current" topic/situation in adult education. It might really get some gears turning for someone knew to the discussion on the topic.
